Selection Criteria & Application Submission Process
Accepted Graduates
The Master’s Program (MSc) in Human Performance accepts graduates with an academic background related to sports science and human performance.
🔹 Eligible Candidate Categories:
- Graduates of all Departments of Physical Education and Sport Science (TEFAA) from domestic institutions and recognized equivalent institutions abroad.
- Graduates of other University Departments and Higher Technological Educational Institutions (A.T.E.I.) from domestic or equivalent recognized institutions abroad, provided that their field of study is relevant to the MSc program.
🔹 Percentage Allocation of Positions:
- 80% of the positions are reserved for TEFAA graduates.
- 20% of the positions are allocated to graduates from other university departments.
📌 In the event that TEFAA graduate positions are not fully filled, candidates from other university departments may be admitted to fill the remaining spots, up to the maximum number of admitted students.
Extra Admissions for Special Categories
Members of the E.E.P. (Special Educational Personnel), E.DI.P. (Special Teaching Personnel), and E.T.E.P. (Laboratory Teaching Personnel) categories have the possibility of extra admission under the following conditions:
- Admission is permitted as long as the conditions of the first paragraph of Article 34, Paragraph 1 of Law 4485/2017 are met.
- Only one candidate per academic year can be accepted into an MSc program, provided that the program is organized within a Department of the Institution where the candidate is employed.
- The field of study of the MSc program must be relevant to the candidate’s academic background and professional work at the respective Institution.

Application Submission Requirements
To be accepted for evaluation and scoring, an applicant’s submission must meet the following essential conditions:
🔹 Bachelor’s Degree from a Higher Education Institution (A.E.I. or A.T.E.I.)
- Applicants must hold a first-cycle degree from a Higher Education Institution (A.E.I.) or Higher Technological Educational Institution (A.T.E.I.) from Greece or a recognized foreign institution.
- If the degree was obtained from a foreign institution, official recognition from the Hellenic NARIC (D.O.A.T.A.P.) is required.
🔹 Proficiency in a Foreign Language (English, French, or German)
- Applicants must provide proof of B2-level language proficiency (good knowledge) in one of the recognized language certificates accepted by A.S.E.P. (Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection).
- Submission of a language certificate is not required if the applicant has graduated from an English-speaking, French-speaking, or German-speaking university abroad, as proven by their degree.
📌 A bachelor’s degree and foreign language proficiency are mandatory for submitting an application to the MSc program. Applicants who do not meet these criteria will not be eligible for the selection process.

📌 Mandatory documents (1 & 2) are essential for application evaluation. The remaining documents contribute to the applicant’s overall scoring.
Evaluation Criteria & Scoring
The selection of candidates is based on an objective scoring system according to the following criteria:
🔹 Degree Grade (maximum 35 points)
- Calculated as: Degree Grade × 3.5
🔹 Thesis (maximum 6 points)
- 6 points if the thesis was written by a single author
- If multiple authors, 6 points are divided by the number of authors
🔹 Professional Experience (maximum 5 points)
- 5 points for 2 years of work experience
- 2.5 points for 1 year of work experience
- 0.5 points for 6 months of work experience
🔹 Publications in Scientific Journals (maximum 10 points)
- International journals (indexed databases):
- 5 points (1st author), 3 points (2nd author), 2 points (3rd author)
- Greek journals:
- 3 points (1st author), 2 points (2nd author), 1 point (3rd author)
🔹 Presentations at Scientific Conferences (maximum 9 points)
- 3 points for the 1st author
- 2 points for the 2nd author
- 1 point for the 3rd author
🔹 Participation in Research Projects (maximum 4 points)
- Requires official certification from the Special Account for Research Funds (ELKE)
🔹 Second Degree (A.E.I. or A.T.E.I.) (maximum 10 points)
- If the degree is from a foreign institution, DOATAP recognition is required
🔹 Master’s or Doctoral Degree (maximum 15 points)
- 5 points for a Master’s degree (only one Master’s degree is counted)
- 10 points for a PhD
🔹 Outstanding Athletic Achievement (10 points) (Only for the “Maximizing Athletic Performance” specialization)
- 1st – 3rd place in Olympic Games, World, or European Championships
- Certification from the General Secretariat of Sports is required
📌 All application files are evaluated by the Committee for Document Review based on the total points accumulated by each candidate.

📌 Selection Process
The Evaluation Committee, appointed by the Coordinating Committee (C.C.), compiles a ranking list of candidates.
- The ranking is based on the total score of each candidate, calculated up to the second decimal place, following appropriate rounding of the third decimal place.
- In the event of a tie, all tied candidates are admitted as supernumerary students.

📌 Appeals Process
After the final list of successful and waitlisted candidates is approved by the Department Assembly, the official results are published on the Master’s Program (MSc) website.
Candidates who wish to submit an appeal can do so within a strict deadline of three (3) days from the announcement of the results.

The registration of successful candidates is completed electronically via email at: msc-hp@phed.auth.gr.
Candidates must submit the following within five (5) working days from the publication date of the final list:

✅ Photocopy of their identification card
📌 Failure to register on time results in loss of placement. Vacant spots will be filled by candidates from the waitlist, based on their ranking order.

Number of Admitted Students
The total number of admitted students in the MSc Program “Human Performance” is 60, evenly distributed across the two program tracks.
🔹 Seat Allocation:
- 30 students per track
- Out of the 60 available positions, 48 seats are allocated to graduates of Physical Education and Sport Science (T.E.F.A.A.) (24 per track).
- The remaining 12 seats are reserved for graduates from other university departments and technological institutes (A.T.E.I.) with a relevant academic background, either from domestic institutions or recognized foreign universities (6 per track).
📌 The candidate selection is conducted through a transparent process based on objective evaluation criteria, ensuring high program quality and the suitability of admitted students.
Special Provisions
For student-related matters that are not covered by the Study Regulations, the responsible authority for decision-making is the Coordinating Committee (C.C.) of the MSc Program.
