Criteria for Admission

Applications are granted from the online address of the postgraduate program and submitted by the deadline together with the necessary supporting documents to the Secretariat of the postgraduate program in electronic format (by e-mail to msc-hp@phed.auth.gr) in a single pdf file (the file must have the application and all supporting documents). The additional submission of overdue supporting documents is not accepted. The exact dates for the submission of supporting documents are announced in the announcement and are strictly enforced.

Supporting documents for submission of an application

  1. Bachelor of Basic Studies A.E.I. and/or T.E.I. (essential)
  2. Diploma in knowledge of a foreign language, at least B2 level recognized by A.S.E.P. (essential)
  3. Diploma thesis completion certificate
  4. Certificates of professional experience
  5. Documentation of publications
  6. Evidence of oral and/or posted announcements
  7. Certificate of participation in research programs
  8. Other degrees (A.E.I. - T.E.I.)
  9. Doctoral or postgraduate degree
  10. Outstanding Sports Excellence (only for the “Maximizing Sports Performance” direction)

Supporting documents 1 and 2 are prerequisites for the evaluation of the candidate. The rest are qualifications that improve scoring.

Prerequisites for submission of an application to the postgraduate program “Human Performance”

In order for the application to be accepted and the evaluation process to be activated, i.e. the scoring of each candidate, the following necessary conditions must be met:

  • Basic University or College degree

It is mandatory that the first cycle degree from a foreign institution must have been recognized by the Interdisciplinary Organization for the Recognition of Academic and Information Titles (D.O.A.T.A.P.).

  • The proficiency of knowledge of a foreign language (English, French, German) level B2 (good knowledge), from the proficiency certificates recognized by A.S.E.P. In the event that the candidate has graduated from an English-speaking, German-speaking, or French-speaking University abroad and this is proven by his/her degree, it is not necessary to present a language proficiency certificate of the required foreign language.

The basic degree and the foreign language proficiency certificate are prerequisites for a candidature in the postgraduate program.

Each candidate with the necessary prerequisites is evaluated and ranked based on the points he/she collects from the criteria of different evaluation weights.

The selection of candidates is made according to the points accumulated from the following admission criteria, without, however, being necessary for the candidate to meet all of them. The nomination files are evaluated by the Document Evaluation Committee.

The criteria are defined as follows:

1. Bachelor's degree (maximum 35 points).

Degree grade X 3.5

2. Graduate Thesis (maximum 6 credits)

The Diploma Thesis (of the degree of basic studies submitted in criterion 1) is assessed with six points, if it has been prepared by a single author, regardless of its grade. If it has been prepared by two or more authors, the points awarded to the candidate are equal to the quotient of six times the number of authors. The thesis is certified by a certificate from the Department Secretariat or the library and must state the number of authors.

3. Proven professional experience after receiving the degree [maximum five (5) points: 5 points for 2 years of work, 2 ½ points for 1 year and 0.5 point for ½ year]

The professional experience must fall within the scientific area of ​​the human performance and is proven with the following supporting documents:

  • For employees of the public sector: Certificate from the relevant public sector body, from which the exact type and duration of the experience can be deduced.
  • For employees in the private sector: Copy of official documents of the relevant insurance institution, from which the duration of the insurance can be obtained. Certification of the employer, where are clearly visible, the duration and type of work as well as the details of the employer, natural person or the name of the company, if it is a legal entity.
  • For freelancers: Certificate from the relevant insurance agency, from which the duration of the insurance can be derived.

 

4. Publication of articles in approved national and/or foreign journals with an editorial board (maximum 10 points)

Up to two publications of scientific articles are evaluated. If the article is published in an internationally recognized journal (in an international bibliographic database) the candidate to be evaluated must be up to third in the series of authors of the paper. The first author receives 5 points, the second 3 and the third 2 points. For publications in journals not included in international databases, the first author receives 3 points, the second author 2 and the third author 1. The candidate must submit in the nomination file: a) the entire publication, b) a photocopy or printout of the page of the journal with the editorial board and c) photocopy of the cover. If the work is under publication, then the acknowledgment of acceptance by the editorial director of the journal must be submitted in addition

5. Oral and/or poster presentations at local and/or foreign scientific conferences (maximum 9 points)

Up to three announcements are evaluated. Participation in each oral or posted communication is evaluated for the first author with 3 points, for the second with 2 and for the third with 1.

The candidate must provide a certificate of presentation and a copy of the proceedings of the conference (the 1st page and the paper abstract page), in which the announcement was made and a certificate of presentation from the conference.

6. Participation in research projects (maximum 4 points)

The candidate must submit a certificate from the Special Research Funds Account (University Research Committee), which certifies his/her participation in a research program of at least one calendar semester.

7. Second degree from another AEI or TEI department (maximum 10 points)

Candidates who hold a second degree from a national or foreign AEI or TEI are evaluated with 10 points. Mandatory, the first cycle degree from a foreign institution must have been recognized by the Interdisciplinary Organization for the Recognition of Academic and Information Titles (D.O.A.T.A.P.).

8. Possession of a Master's or PhD (maximum 15 points)

Candidates holding a master's degree are awarded 5 credits (only one master's degree is awarded), while holders of a doctoral degree are awarded 10 credits.

9. Outstanding sportsmanship (10 points)

Those candidates for the direction "Maximizing sports performance" who have 1st to 3rd victory in the summer or winter Olympic Games, in a world Championship or in a European Championship, are awarded 10 points, provided they submit a relevant certificate from the Sports General Secretariat.

This criterion applies only to the "Maximizing Athletic Performance" direction.

The application for candidacy to the postgraduate program “Human Performance” is submitted on the specific dates as specified in the notice. The nomination application form can be found at http://humanperformance.phed.auth.gr, under Forms -> Admission. The candidate must submit all supporting documents together (in a single pdf file) only via email: msc-hp@phed.auth.gr.

The aim of the postgraduate program "Human Performance" is to advance knowledge, develop research and train high-level scientists capable of contributing to theoretical and diverse areas in the known fields of maximizing athletic performance and exercise for prevention and restoration.
